Highlights From Our Latest Member Workshop with Andrea Dahr, Founder of Switch Natural

At The Blood Sugar Method, we bring in monthly experts to give our members practical tools that support metabolism, hormones, and long-term health.
This month, we hosted Andrea Dahr, clean-living educator and founder of The Natural Beauty App, for a highly requested workshop on a topic many women overlook:
The hidden chemicals inside everyday personal care and home products and how they influence metabolic health.
This session quickly became one of our most eye-opening events. Here is a preview of what members learned.
We Are Exposed to More Than We Realize
Andrea shared that the average woman uses more than 160 chemicals before she leaves the house each morning. These exposures come from products like:
skincare
hair care
sunscreen
deodorant
cleaning solutions
laundry detergent
Most surprising of all, the majority of these ingredients are never required to be proven safe before being sold.
For women working on blood sugar balance and hormone health, this matters more than most people realize.

The Connection Between Everyday Products and Metabolism
A major insight from Andrea’s presentation was understanding obesogens. These are chemicals commonly found in household and personal care products that can interfere with:
fat storage
metabolic function
insulin sensitivity
hormone signaling
appetite regulation
Many women in our community are working hard on nutrition, exercise, and stress reduction, yet still feel stuck. Learning how environmental exposures may play a role was a powerful moment for many attendees.
Andrea explained how these chemicals often appear in products marketed as clean, natural, or gentle. The membership workshop explores this in detail, including where these ingredients tend to hide and how to identify them.
Why This Matters for Blood Sugar Regulation
Members often ask questions such as:
Why am I still fatigued despite eating well
Why is my midsection weight not budging
Why do I still feel inflamed even after changing my diet
Environmental exposures may be one of the missing pieces. Fragrance, certain preservatives, and specific sunscreen ingredients can all influence hormones and metabolic pathways.
The workshop helped members understand the link between these exposures and how they feel day to day.
A Few Starter Insights From the Workshop

Without giving away the full training, here are a few of the simple takeaways Andrea shared:
Fragrance is one of the most common sources of endocrine-disrupting chemicals.
Store labels such as “clean,” “natural,” or “safe” are largely unregulated and may still contain harmful ingredients.
Meaningful change does not require replacing everything at once. Swapping one product at a time is both realistic and effective.
Indoor air quality can significantly impact how you feel, especially if you are sensitive to synthetic chemicals.
Members were able to ask questions live, share personal experiences, and hear Andrea’s recommendations for safer swaps across cleaning products, skincare, makeup, sunscreen, and more.
